If you re going with this approach it may take a couple layers of paint and we recommend a clear code above the fabric to seal the surface. If you re looking for a durable water proof and fire resistant awning fabric that is energy efficient then a vinyl polyester composite fabric might be right for you. We normally do three coats allowing each one to dry for 4 hours.

Natural fiber awnings need to be replaced more often than their acrylic or vinyl or vinyl polyester composite counterparts.
