One of my biggest obstacles in this house has been the window color. My house is a 1920 bungalow with the original wood sash windows. Hold the edge of the putty knife firmly with one hand at an angle where the grille or frame meets the glass. Kilz primer only needed if you have raw wood like me or if you are painting over a really dark color i used behr interior enamel paint plus primer in an eggshell finish for the black frames.

Here s an insider tip too. One end has large windows with grid mullions like your photos that we are painting black. Since we can t see both styles of windows in the same moment is it wrong to have one white and the other black.
